Pros #3

The reason for most if not all to require this form of dress is to solve the problems regarding, academic achievement and discipline (Cook,School Uniforms Are Neccisary and Constitutional). Of course this is a major problem in many schools, and most that have tried uniforms have a great response. In fact in a recent survey, principals of schools noticed an 80 percent increase in the classroom, discipline, and a 52 percent increase in student achievement (Hamilton, 69). Clearly since the policies have been in place, there has been a substantial improvement. Also, the US department of education has acknowledged the positive effect of school uniforms and say they help students concentrate on academics, and stay disciplined (Daniels). Not just the school board, but teachers feel this way as well. “Clothes should not be the focus,” said one principal in Connecticut, “math and writing should be the focus” (Weekly Reader,What should YOU wear?). In the end, uniforms set standards for behavior, and remind the children who wear them that it’s about “dressing for success” (Bertotto,Deressed For Success?).
